Thankfully it was a fine and sunny morning when a coach load of SAGE Greenfingers members, volunteers and staff met at Ellesmere Green to depart for Bridlington. We were joined by some members of the Write Horizons Writing Group and their creative juices were flowing before we’d even left Pitsmoor.
We made it to ‘Brid’ in good time, despite the coach drivers’ jokes about taking us to Blackpool!
A dozen intrepid Greenfingers members braved the wind and set off for a fishing trip. Unfortunately they didn’t catch a single fish, or even get a bite. According to the skipper this was the first time this had happened on one of his trips in 40 years! They did have a good time ‘feeding the fish’ instead.
Another group of people stayed on dry land and visited the Seaside Museum. This was a fascinating place full of memorabilia from old Bridlington. People had the chance to play on nostalgic slot machines with old pennies. This led to some reminiscing about past visits to the seaside as people sat on the seafront watching the seagulls.

Other people took a trip across the bay to Flamborough Head on the Yorkshire Belle leisure boat. That certainly blew the cobwebs away!

Back on dry land a huge group met up and had a much needed cuppa while others went for a visit to the funfair.
Finally, a quick paddle in the sea and a stroll on the beach before returning to the coach tired and relaxed.

One member summed up the day saying ‘It was lovely to get out of Sheffield, take in the sights and just relax’.
