at SAGE Greenfingers allotment

Our Open Day is a celebration of our work together for the past year. Members bring their families and friends. Supporters, funders and volunteers are all invited. This year, around 60 people attended. We exhibited produce from our collaboration with Hull Learning Consortium, including a variety of home-grown organic fruit & vegetables, as well as home-made pickles & pressed flower cards. Visitors were treated to a tour of our allotment sites, learning about the history and development of the project. They also had the chance to get stuck in and experience therapeutic gardening for themselves with a seed-saving and sorting exercise. Although, according to local publication Burngreave Messenger, the highlight of the day was definitely the BBQ created by one of our members, apparently "the best tasted in Burngreave for many a year!"
