Step out to gardening

Our second 10 week course starts Friday 21 July 2017 until Friday 22 September 2017. Meet at 12 noon for a 12:30 start, session ends at 14:30

This ten week course will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to start growing your own food. You will be introduced to growing in small spaces, for example, lettuces and herbs on your window sills, growing potatoes in sacks on your balcony, vegetables in containers; and you will be introduced to what can be grown on a larger scale on an allotment.

We can provide gloves, gardening boots, waterproofs and tools.

Visiting local allotment projects

The course is funded by Yorkshire Sport Foundation in partnership with Active Burngreave and also provides the opportunity for you to increase your level of physical activity and start your journey to a healthier you!

We can provide you with gloves, safety boots and waterproofs if needed. We will also provide drinks and refreshments but we ask that you bring your own lunch if you want to eat.

With increasing activity in mind, we are inviting you to come along at 12:00, although the course starts at 12:30

12:00 - Meeting us at Grimesthorpe allotments

Arriving early will give you time to get to know the other group members, eat lunch together, and to take a pleasant stroll around our five beautiful allotment sites.

Meet at the allotment entrance between 12:00 and 12:30pm on Grimesthorpe Road opposite the junction with Torbay Road.  Nearest post-code – S4 8LE.  The nearest bus stop is on Ellesmere Road North, on the 97/98 bus route.
