Volunteering With SAGE

As a charity we rely on volunteers to provide the support necessary for our members to benefit most from our support. If you have time and share our values, then we can find a role that suits your availability.

Prospective volunteers will be invited to visit the allotment, and complete an application form, we will ask for references and complete a DBS check. Volunteers are invited to join in the cook and share lunch, and we pay travel expenses, they are supported by the paid workers and encouraged to attend training when available

You can find information about the roles we offer on this page and if you're still keen then please find out 'Expression of Interest' form here.

Volunteering Roles:

Greenfingers Gardening Group Volunteers:

Greenfingers gardening group volunteers: These roles require a regular commitment on a Tuesday or Thursday morning, it is possible to volunteer weekly or fortnightly. The role is open to anyone who shares our values and is interested in supporting innovative interventions in mental health. Volunteers will work with members on the allotment, 1:1 or in a group, and can get involved in gardening and arts and crafts activities and provide a listening ear when members need to talk. There are also practical tasks, washing up, clearing away at the end of the sessions. Gardening and handyperson skills are useful but not essential, staff are on hand to direct and support volunteers. You will become a member of a supportive friendly group, and gain experience in finding creative approaches to supporting people with mental health needs, and the benefits of green prescribing.

Singing Support Volunteers:

Our singing group runs during term time on Mondays from 12 until 2pm.

We're looking for regular female volunteers to work alongside group members, some of whom speak languages other than English, and support their participation in group.   We would like volunteers to arrive 15minutes before the group starts to help prepare drinks and welcome the women into the space. Volunteers will take part in the singing, musical ability is welcome but not essential.

Student Placements:

We welcome enquiries about student placements, or visits from students who are interested in finding out about our work and our approach.

We are able to host Deep End medical student placements, and those requiring part time involvement.
