Andrew Challands

Trustee

I successfully applied to become a Trustee of SAGE in 2020 during the Coronaviris pandemic. In 2017 I retired from my job as a senior manager at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals having had experience of operational and administrative roles in the Audit Commission and the NHS. As a keen gardener with a long-term interest in environmental issues, I am aware of the mindfulness of gardening and I can see the benefits of gardening as therapy for physical and mental health. I believe the work of SAGE is increasingly important as our understanding of mental health is more widely understood and acknowledged and I believe it will help to mitigate the long-term impact of the pandemic on the mental health of those citizens of Sheffield who are vulnerable and marginalised.
